ABOUT MYTHICBELLS PERSIANS Registered with CFA: www.cfainc.org
My name is Molly Barr, and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I fell in love with Persians years ago and, though relatively new to breeding, I have cared for and been owned by Persians for many years. Mythicbells Persians is a small CFA registered hobby cattery. The cattery IS my home. The kittens are pedigree Persians and are of champion and grand champion lines, some with ancestors that come from well known international lines. My cats are not caged, and all live underfoot as an integral part of the household. They have a lot of custom built cat climbing and sleeping places as well as a safe, enclosed outdoor play area where they can play jungle cat, climb trees, and help me in the garden. My emphasis is on excellent nutrition, a clean environment, and lots of love to bring healthy, well socialized and confident kittens into special homes where they will be cherished and doted upon for the duration of their lives. I prefer, and hope to preserve, the traditional doll-faced Persians who have a 'bit more' nose, but still have the adorable Persian "look" and fabulous personality. I do not inbreed, and only breed CFA registered cats. With only a few breeding cats who are my pets as well, I have 2 - 3 litters a year. Check the available page for "planned" litters, or email me. All kittens are from parent cats DNA tested negative for PKD, a fatal hereditary disease, and my cattery is FeLV/FIV negative as well. Kittens go to their new homes at about 12 weeks of age with their first kitten vaccination and worming. Kittens are examined by my veterinarian at 9 - 11 weeks of age and a fecal exam is done for parasites and giardia. Each kitten comes with a life-time of 'tech support' from me plus a two year guarantee against fatal genetic conditions as well as a general health guarantee at time of adoption. You will get a kitten kit which includes a kitten care manual, a health record, proof of negative PKD DNA results on the parent cats, a bag of food and other "goodies" to help you get started. All kittens also come with a 4 - 5 generation pedigree nicely printed out. I'll be glad to email pedigrees and contractual details, if interested. "Pet" kittens are adopted with a spay/neuter agreement. I carefully screen kitten buyers and reserve the right to refuse to sell with no explanation at any time during the adoption proceedings. Persians are the most popular breed of cat, and for good reason. They usually get along well with other companion animals, are playful and affectionate, rarely destructive, and are affectionate and devoted to their human companions. Persians DO take a fair amount of grooming, and if you are not up for that, please do not adopt one. It's important that all members of your family are committed to taking in a new animal -- I recommend that it be discussed with all concerned. Also, a well cared for animal is not inexpensive to keep over its life time. Before you make your decision, take this into account. Veterinary bills can be quite high, even for healthy cats -- there are vaccinations and yearly check ups, dental work, flea and pest control, cat litter, toys, beds...and a good diet. I've written a Kitten Care Manual to help all of my kitten buyers. Originally it was a simple hand out, but I have recently turned it into a 'Print On Demand' book, complete with LOTS of cute kitten pictures. This book will be the most up-to-date manual since it continues to be a work in progress. I'm making this manual available to anyone who is interested. The buttons below will access the manuals. The original manual is free; the manual in formal book format can be purchased online (no mark up), in either hard back or paper back. Formal book: How the adoption process works: When I receive a serious inquiry from someone, I ask that they fill out a questionnaire so that I can get a feel for them, their family, and their suitability as a good home. I will want to speak to them on the phone and meet in person at some point before the adoption, if at all possible. If they seem compatible to my requirements they are placed on a waiting list. Once the kittens are a few weeks old, I begin working my way down the waiting list and inviting the buyers to choose from the kittens available. Though, in general, I do consider applicants on a first come, first serve basis, I do give preference to buyers I feel most comfortable about and/or best fit the needs of a specific kitten or kittens. If I do not have a kitten that suits an applicant's desire, they have the option of remaining on the waiting list for a subsequent litter. Unlike many breeders, I do not ask for a deposit to be placed on the waiting list, only that the application be filled out and approved. Once a buyer has committed to purchasing a particular kitten, I then require a deposit to hold the kitten until old enough for adoption. When I'm not tending to and loving my cats, I'm an artist. Much of my work features animals -- especially cats. Check out my art at: www.dragontree.net |
